Drills, reworked
Drills are the big one this time. "Play & Improve" also made it to mobile, and a handful of things you reported are fixed.
Drills got a full rework
- Drills now run on their own, faster schedule. Until now they ran on the same slow schedule as normal training, so one took months to get through. Now it is a couple of days if the pattern clicks, closer to a week if you keep getting it wrong, which is rather the point.
- You pick the size when creating a drill, 5 to 15 puzzles instead of a fixed 20.
- A drill that sits untouched can be released, so its puzzles go back into your daily training with one click.
"Play & Improve" works on mobile now
- Play a Lichess game from your phone or your iPad, on a board built for a small screen.
- The short training routine between games works there too.
- So does the analysis board.
The eval graph in your game review got a rework
- It now shows your key moments where they actually happened, with the marker sitting next to the curve and a line pointing at the exact spot.
Smaller fixes you asked for
- The animated background now uses 10 to 20 times less GPU, so the whole app runs a lot lighter.
- Sound now works everywhere, iPhone and iPad included.
- Stockfish stays on when you leave a variation.
- Pieces slide a bit slower, so you can follow moves that are played for you.
- Board coordinates are on by default for new accounts.
Most of this came from your reports, so thanks for taking the time to write them up. Keep them coming.
