Chess.com vs Chessou

Chessou builds your training out of your own games. You enter your Chess.com or Lichess username once, and everything after that runs by itself.

Every game is imported, analysed move by move and reviewed. The positions you got wrong become puzzles and drills. Your openings become a repertoire tree that shows you which lines keep costing you points. Your reports tell you what changed and what is worth sharpening next.

Chess.com is where a lot of chess gets played. Opponents at any hour, lessons across four skill levels, a puzzle library of around half a million positions. It is the biggest place in chess, and it is good at being that. The training side of it is the same for everybody: the same courses, the same puzzle pool, the same plan whether you are 900 or 1900.

Chessou runs the other way round. Your games are the material, and the whole training system grows out of them. The analysis, the drills, the repertoire, the reports, all of it.

Chess.com gives every member the same training. Chessou builds your training out of the games you play, wherever you play them.

Your openings, without the theory you never use

Chessou builds your repertoire out of the lines you really play, so you only learn what actually reaches your board.

A course works the other way round, written once for everybody. They run from a few hundred lines to over a thousand, often more than ten moves deep, and most of it never reaches your board.

In Chessou you keep every opening open to you. You only learn the lines that actually turn up in your games, and the rest of the course is time you never spend.

Your repertoire is a tree built from the lines you really play, so you learn the moves you actually get on the board.

The leaks are marked. Chessou colours the lines where you keep losing points, averaged across all your games rather than one rough evening.

The fix is a cut. Where a line keeps costing you points, you swap the whole line for a better one and train it.

You pick the replacement. Chessou shows you the strongest moves from Stockfish, or what players on your rating actually play. Or you just play a move yourself.

Then you play, and it starts again. New games show which branches held and which one has started to leak.

You keep your own style. You only learn the lines you really get on the board.

Your edge against your next tournament opponent

You know who you are playing next. Their games are public. That is everything Chessou needs.

Point Chessou at your opponent. It reads their public games from Lichess and Chess.com.

See what they actually play. Their openings, ranked by how often they come up.

Create an extra repertoire for this opponent. You can have as many repertoires as you like.

Drill it the same evening, or drop it into your normal training.

You have an answer ready for the openings they have been playing lately, and you have already practised them.

What happens after you connect your account

You type your username. Everything below runs by itself, for every game, from then on.

Your games come in on their own. New games are picked up in the background. Nothing to upload, nothing to select.

Every move gets analysed by native Stockfish. And every move gets a comment, tactically and strategically.

Those positions become your training. Your Best Move and Their Best Move from your own games, custom drills on a pattern that keeps coming back, your repertoire, and a daily training package built from your latest games.

You keep it. Spaced repetition brings each pattern back right before you would forget it. It is backed by science: 80 percent remembered that way, against 36 percent without.

You see what changed. Reports and a live feed tell you what moved and what is worth doing next.

Then you play again. Every new game feeds the system, and the more you play, the sharper your training gets.

What Chess.com does that Chessou does not

  • A whole world to play in. Tournaments, events, bots, clubs, and someone to play at any hour and at any level.
  • A guided curriculum. Lessons and courses across four levels, if you want to be taken through a topic step by step.
  • A free plan with no end date. One Game Review and three puzzles a day, for as long as you like.

Most people who use Chessou keep their Chess.com account. The two do different jobs.

What it costs

One detail is easy to miss: unlimited Game Review starts at Platinum, the second paid tier. Gold members have the same one a day limit as the free plan.

Put next to each other, Diamond and Chessou cost about the same. On Chess.com every member gets the same training. On Chessou it grows out of your own games.

Which one fits you

  • You mainly want to play. Chess.com covers that on its own.
  • You want your own games to turn into training. That is what Chessou is for.
  • You play tournaments. Then the repertoire and the opponent prep are the reason to be here.
  • Both. Most Chessou members play on a free Chess.com account and do their training with us.

Questions people ask

Do I have to leave Chess.com?

No. Chessou reads your public games from Chess.com and Lichess, so you keep playing exactly where you play now.

Do I have to upload my games?

No. You enter your username once. From then on Chessou picks up new games on its own and analyses them straight away.

Does Chessou replace Game Review?

For your own games, yes. Every game gets a review with comments on the critical moments, tactically and strategically, and there is no daily limit.

Can I prepare for one specific opponent?

Yes. Chessou reads that player's public games and shows you what they have been playing lately. You build an extra repertoire against exactly those lines and drill it before the round.

Do you need my Chess.com password?

No. Chessou only uses public game data from Chess.com and Lichess. Nothing else.

What if I play on both Lichess and Chess.com?

Connect both. Chessou pulls from all of them and builds your training from the combined picture.

Is this an AI tool?

No. Analysis runs on native Stockfish plus hand built pattern detectors. The same position always gives the same answer.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime, in one click. No contract and no minimum term.

Try it on your own games

Enter your Lichess or Chess.com username and your games are imported and analysed before you pay anything. Every account starts with one week free, everything included. Plans are on the pricing page.

If you want the reasoning behind all of this, start with what a game review can and cannot tell you.
